It’s time to transport your pupils to the African Savannah with our biggest Sketching Stars competition yet — in collaboration with Disney’s The Lion King!
This year, Sketching Stars is challenging your pupils to step into the spotlight and explore the roar-some world of musical theatre and costume design.
KS1: Our KS1 competition sheets task your pupils with designing their very own mask — just like the ones worn by Mufasa, Scar and Simba in the stage production of Disney’s The Lion King ✨
KS2: Our KS2 competition sheets will see your pupils design their very own mask and costume fit for a stage production — plus, the opportunity to bring their character to life ✏️
What’s more, whilst the competition sheets are the ** mane ** event ,we also have a selection of The Lion King-themed bonus sheets available to help spark your pupils’ imagination — suitable for both KS1 and KS2!
Every teacher who enters their class will receive a personal STAEDTLER stationery pack (that’s right, all of you!). But that’s not all — two lucky winners (one KS1 and one KS2) will receive…
Plus, the winning pupils’ teachers (one from KS1 and one from KS2) will receive 2x tickets each to see Disney’s The Lion King live in London — with travel and accommodation paid for by STAEDTLER Teachers’ Club! So, what are you waiting for?
1. If you’re not already a Teachers’ Club member, you’ll need to sign up for free here to get access to this year’s competition sheets — plus hundreds of other FREE classroom resources! Already part of our Teachers’ Club tribe? Great! Head to step 2.
2. Download the competition sheets from the 'Resources' section and print them (in black and white or colour) and give them to your pupils to complete.

3. Collect your pupils’ competition sheets — make sure they’ve included their names on each sheet!
4. Download and complete the Teacher’s Slip to accompany your pupils’ entries. Without this information, your entry will be invalid.
5. Send us your entries (and the Teacher’s Slip!) before midnight on Friday 24 November.
There are two ways to send us your entries — by email or by post. But however you’re entering, don’t forget to include that all-important Teacher’s Slip!
